The "Perfect" Dollhouse

This garment was designed & made my Junior year. We were given the task of "defining our edges." After listening to a Ted Talk from April Hansen called "Don't Round Your Edges." To start my inspiration I started by creating a mind map of who I am as an individual. My inspiration led me to the different aspects of me that makes me, well me! I am an eclectic, girly, fun loving girl who also has struggled with OCD most of my life.

I wanted to create a garment that would represent the struggles that one may have when having a mental illness. The fact that you may look fine on the outside, but on the inside you are fighting for your life. My mood board showcases the two different sides of me. What you see on the outside vs inside.

My final garment showcases the "perfect" house in the front that represents the outside, but when the model walks away you see the distorted and not so pretty back that represents the inside.
